‘Hawaiian Fisherman (or ‘Hawaiian Net Fisher’)’ by Gill, created as a diptych during the early 1940’s. - The art of the never fully identified artist Gill reflects a time period of Hawaiiana during which several artists began employing a method of air brushed stenciling. Through layering complex textures were achieved. Unfortunately, as WWII enfolded, artist materials became of lesser quality and consequently few originals have been preserved.
